Technology

The following courses incorporate the International Society for Technology in Education standards and are designed to develop digital fluency through a variety of project-based, collaborative, and reflective learning experiences. Students will use digital tools to explore design thinking, build soft skills like collaboration and critical thinking, and engage in creative problem solving with 21st-century technologies.

Common Learning Targets

This course helps students transition from Middle School readiness to Digital Learning readiness. Built on ISTE standards, it engages students with STEM, design processes, and soft skills like collaboration, iteration, and time management. Projects integrate digital tools to cultivate creativity and 21st-century tech navigation skills.

This course builds on Grade 5 foundations, advancing project work across STEM fields. Students deepen their understanding of the design process (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test, and implement) and further explore digital creativity and fluency.

This is the final middle school STEAM course. Students will work through projects regarding Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. In order to solve these problems students will use the Design Process to empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test, and implement their ideas. Students will have the opportunity to use a variety of digital tools to solve real world problems.

Summative Assessments: Evaluate essential learning at the end of a unit. Process Grade constitutes 80% of the total grade.

Formative Assessments: Provide practice and guidance prior to summative evaluations. Includes daily assignments and check-ins. These make up 20% of the total grade.

Late Work and Redo Policy

• Daily assignments are due by the end of each unit and can be submitted for full credit up to two weeks after.
• Students must notify the instructor when late work is submitted.
• Blank or fraudulent submissions result in a zero with no retake opportunity.
• Students can redo any assignment by demonstrating mastery and communicating with the instructor to make a plan.

• All course content is managed through Google Classroom, which students must check daily for updates.
• Extra help is available after school until 3:30 p.m. and during 9th hour.
